Milwaukee Riverside's size was too much for the Vikings as they fell 71-64 Saturday at the Terry Porter Classic.

Wisco ran efficient offense and played solid defense in the first half. They twice took a 7-point lead on the third-ranked Tigers, but Riverside was able to close the gap each time. Chris Golden scored 12 first-half points and Deiondre Cunningham added 11 as the Vikings went into the locker room tied at 34.

Zach Ginster and Chris Golden scored four points apiece in a wild third quarter that saw 2 ties and 9 lead changes. Toward the end of the quarter, Riverside began to assert its height advantage and convert their offensive rebounds into second-chance points. The Tigers scored shortly before the end of the third quarter, and it was a lead they would not relinquish. Riverside opened the fourth quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 62-50 lead. Chris Golden's three pointer with just over a minute left cut the lead to 68-64, but the Tigers held Wisco scoreless the rest of the way and made enough free throws to preserve the victory.

Golden led the Vikings with 25 points. Deiondre Cunningham added 15 points and 7 rebounds, and sophomore CJ Polk scored 8 points without missing a shot. Wisco held Riverside to 41% shooting but allowed the Tigers to score 15 second-chance points on 19 offensive rebounds. The Vikings shot just 40% from the field but did convert 18-23 (78%) from the free throw line.

Wisco returns to action on Tuesday, December 6. They host the Homestead Highlanders at WLHS in a 7:30 PM game.
